Tamra Katcher Secures Win Before New Jersey’s Appellate Division

Tamra Katcher, counsel in the firm’s Criminal Law practice, secured a victory in a domestic violence case before the New Jersey Appellate Division.

In an unpublished opinion, the court ruled that confusion relating to two conflicting court orders—one for in person and one for virtual—coupled with the defendant’s contact with the court noting his confusion, and that the case was still fairly new was sufficient good cause that the judge should have given the defendant another court date to get counsel and prepare for trial. The default final restraining order was vacated and the matter returned to the trial calendar.

The matter is now pending trial before a different judge.
