Tamra Katcher

Tamra Katcher, Counsel in the firm’s Criminal Law Practice, focuses on felony and municipal court matters, DWI, domestic violence, gun permitting and appeals, and expungements. Before entering private practice as a criminal defense lawyer, she served in the City of Newark, Office of the Municipal Prosecutor, as Assistant Chief Municipal Prosecutor and Assistant Prosecutor, and as an Assistant Prosecutor in the Grand Jury and Adult Trial Sections of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Currently, Tamra is the President of Women Lawyers in Bergen County and the co-chair for the Criminal Practice Committee of the Bergen Bar Association. She is also the co-chair of the Bergen County Bar Association Annual Expungement Clinic that offers free expungement representation to all attendees.

Tamra recently completed her Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice; her research thesis focused on the issues that arise between mental health and DWI investigations.

Additionally, Tamra has taught criminal justice courses as an adjunct professor at the College of St. Elizabeth, Kean University, County College of Morris, and University of Phoenix Online. She is also a Senior CLE Instructor with Garden State Continuing Legal Education, and has been on several panels discussing DWI, mental health, and criminal law for NJSBA and NJAJ.

After law school, Tamra clerked for the Hon. Paul J. Vichness, J.S.C., Essex County Superior Court, Criminal Division, and also served as a law clerk with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
