Einhorn, Barbarito, Frost, Botwinick, Nunn & Musmanno, PC, is pleased to welcome Tamra Katcher, Esq., as Counsel in the Criminal Law Practice. She joins Partner and Chair of the Criminal Practice Group Matthew J. Troiano, Partner Alissa D. Hascup, and Of Counsel James M. Porfido.
Prior to joining the firm, Katcher practiced criminal defense litigation at regional law firms and as a solo practitioner, focusing on felony and municipal court matters, DWI, domestic violence, gun permitting and appeals, and expungements. Earlier in her career, she served in the City of Newark, Office of the Municipal Prosecutor, as Assistant Chief Municipal Prosecutor and Assistant Prosecutor, and previously as an Assistant Prosecutor in the Grand Jury and Adult Trial Sections of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

“Having served as both a prosecutor and defense attorney, Tamra brings a depth of perspective and strategic instinct to our team,” said Troiano, a Certified Criminal Trial Attorney who joined the firm in 2018 following a lengthy career as an Assistant Prosecutor in Hudson and Morris Counties. “She has developed a strong reputation across New Jersey for her skilled defense of DWI matters in Municipal Court – a highly nuanced area of law. Clients value her balanced approach, calm under pressure, and the confidence she inspires when the stakes are high.”
Katcher earned her Master’s in Criminal Justice from American Public University, her J.D., cum laude, from New York Law School, and her B.S. from Miami University in Ohio. After law school, she clerked for the Hon. Paul J. Vichness, J.S.C., Essex County Superior Court, Criminal Division, and also served as a law clerk with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
She has taught criminal justice courses as an adjunct professor at the College of St. Elizabeth, Kean University, County College of Morris, and University of Phoenix Online. Katcher is also a Senior CLE Instructor with Garden State Continuing Legal Education and has served on several panel discussions about criminal law, expungements, and DWI for the New Jersey State Bar Association and the New Jersey Association for Justice.
A member of Women Lawyers in Bergen County since 2017, Katcher currently serves as President (2024–2026) and previously held the positions of Vice President and Treasurer. She has served on the District IIB Ethics Committee since 2018. Within the Bergen County Bar Association, she is Co-Chair of the Criminal Procedure Committee and the BCBA Expungement Clinic and is also a member of the Criminal and Municipal Court Committees.
