What is your proudest professional achievement?
Nunn: “Obtaining a judgment of adoption in a litigation that lasted seven years, included three trials, stays from the Supreme Court, two published decisions, one unpublished decision, and a lot of tears. In the end, the case changed a child’s life, transformed a family, and reminded me why I became a lawyer. Few professional accomplishments can compare to helping create a permanent family for a child.”
Botwinick: “Building a firm culture that attracts and retains exceptional lawyers. Individual victories matter but creating an environment where talented people can build meaningful careers, serve clients at the highest level and develop into leaders is a lasting accomplishment. Seeing colleagues grow professionally, earn the trust of clients and become leaders within the firm has been among the most rewarding experiences of my career.”
What do you foresee as the most disruptive change in the legal industry in the coming year?
Bowinick: “Artificial intelligence will continue to transform how lawyers practice, but its greatest impact may be in how it changes the delivery of legal services. AI can enhance efficiency, improve access to information, and support better decision-making. The firms that successfully integrate technology while preserving the human elements of legal practice, judgment, relationships and trust, will be best positioned for the future.”
What was the best career advice you’ve ever received (or what’s your best advice for the next generation)?
Nunn: “There are many talented lawyers, and many lazy ones. Talent without an intense work ethic is like throwing away a winning lottery ticket. Success in this profession is rarely determined by intelligence alone. The lawyers who build lasting careers are the ones who prepare thoroughly, outwork their opponents, honor their commitments, and continue learning long after others have become comfortable. Talent opens doors. Work ethic keeps them open.”
