Einhorn Barbarito co-managing partner Matheu D. Nunn said a long relationship between the firms helped spark discussions about joining forces.
“We’ve wanted a presence in Bergen County for quite some time,” Nunn said. “The debate you always have as a law firm is, do you start from scratch or do you try and get a foothold with a well-known firm? Rich Weiner, Gerry Salerno and Barry Kaufman, they’re staples of Bergen County. It made sense. There is synergy with the practice areas, with the personalities. It fit very well.”
Nunn said Weiner is “one of the preeminent family law attorneys” in the state, and that his sizable litigation practice adds to Einhorn Barbarito’s 20 attorneys already working in its family law department.
Nunn called the acquisition a “seamless fit on the culture front.”
“As much as we’re adding attorneys and revenue, we added good people that we’ve known for years and that’s important. You don’t want to just acquire people for the sake of acquiring them, and then they don’t gel from a culture perspective,” Nunn said.
