Einhorn Barbarito Partner, Jennifer Fortunato To Serve Four-Year Term On District Ethics Committee
September 20, 2016 | Results may vary depending on your particular facts and legal circumstances.Jennifer Fortunato, partner and matrimonial attorney with law firm Einhorn Barbarito in Denville, has recently been appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to serve on the District Ethics Committees (the DECs) for a four-year term which began September 1, 2016.
The Office of Attorney Ethics assists and coordinates the District Ethics Committees and recognizes and values the attorney and public member volunteers who commit their time to preserve and enhance public confidence in the bar.
Fortunato was awarded her Juris Doctorate in 1992 from Wake Forest School of Law. Upon receiving her law degree, she served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Bernard Rudd, J.S.C. in Essex County, Family Part.
Since her clerkship, Fortunato has dedicated her career exclusively to family law and other family law related matters including divorce litigation, custody and visitation, alimony and child support, business and other asset valuation, equitable distribution, domestic violence, separation and property settlement agreements, prenuptial agreements, post-divorce issues and litigation, grandparent rights, adoptions, guardianships, palimony, appeals, civil unions and same-sex marriages.
Fortunato is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Law Attorney, a certification achieved by only 2 percent of the attorneys in the State of New Jersey. She has also received an “AV Preeminent™” rating by Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating™ as determined by a survey of her peers; this means that she is deemed to have high professional ethics and legal ability in the field of family and matrimonial law. Fortunato has also been included in the list of Super Lawyers by Thomson Reuters, New Jersey Edition in the area of family law.
Fortunato volunteers as a panelist for the Early Settlement Panel (ESP) and Blue Ribbon Panel (BRP) in Morris County. The ESP program is an in-court mediation program for family law matters in which qualified matrimonial attorneys volunteer their time to provide recommendations to litigants to assist them, and their attorneys, in reaching a resolution to their matter prior to going to trial. The BRP is also an in-court mediation program. However, this program involves complex family law issues such as, competing expert evaluations, which require additional qualifications.
For the past two years, Fortunato has coached the Kinnelon High School team in the High School Mock Trial Competition sponsored by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation. She is a long-time board member of the New Jersey Family Inns of Court, and a long-standing member of both the New Jersey Bar Association and the Morris County Bar Association. She resides in Kinnelon, NJ.
