Established in 1994, Deirdre’s House is the only site in Morris County where a child victim can be interviewed and digitally recorded by law enforcement, medically examined and treated by a pediatric abuse specialist, prepared for trial, and clinically counseled in English or Spanish—all under one roof and all free of charge.
“I could not be happier about the opportunity to be on the Board of Trustees for Deirdre’s House,” said Troiano. “During my time as a prosecutor, I saw firsthand the wonderful services that are available to children and families who have suffered from abuse. Now in private practice, I am in a better position to assist Deirdre’s House as an advocate for resources, and a contributor for whatever need may arise in the future. It is a true pleasure to have a role with this amazing facility and its dedicated staff and volunteers.”
Maria Vinci Savettiere, Esq., Executive Director of Deirdre’s House, added, “Matthew is well known throughout Morris County for his advocacy and his experience with child protective services, law enforcement, and the importance of treating an abused child with sensitivity and support. He brings to Deirdre’s House a unique knowledge of the judicial system and a strong belief in our community’s ability to be the first line of defense for children who may be abused or neglected.”
A former Morris County Chief Assistant Prosecutor, Troiano came to Einhorn Barbarito last year to chair the Criminal Practice Group. He is well known throughout the State for his successful prosecution of many high-profile murder cases. During his prosecutorial career, he successfully tried many jury trials in the New Jersey Superior Courts, including murder, aggravated manslaughter, aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, kidnapping, aggravated assault, robbery, burglary, weapons, drugs and domestic violence-related crimes. He has also appeared before the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Superior Court and is recognized by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Certified Criminal Trial Attorney.
