Attorneys Matthew S. Rheingold, Samantha Rocco and Jonathan A. Schwartz Publish Estate Planning Chapter in PLI Treatise “Decrypting Crypto: Digital Assets and Web3 Explained”

Rheingold, Co-Chair of the Firm’s Wills, Trusts & Estates and Taxation practice groups, associate Samantha Rocco and partner Jonathan A. Schwartz have co-authored the Estate Planning chapter in the newly published PLI Press treatise “Decrypting Crypto: Digital Assets and Web3 Explained.”
Published in April 2025, the treatise serves as a comprehensive resource to help equip lawyers with the technical knowledge and legal context needed to understand the Web3 industry and the unique issues and challenges it creates for lawyers and clients alike. Chapter 14: Estate Planning, within Part III’s focus on practice issues, looks at estate planning and explains the Web3 issues that may arise, specifically the intersection of estate planning with cryptocurrency, and how best to navigate them.
Rheingold previously authored a New Jersey Law Journal article entitled “Estate Planning Strategies for Cryptocurrency,” focusing on how cryptocurrency, which has made certain transactions simpler, has complicated the estate planning process, and explains that clients who have acquired such assets must incorporate them into their estate planning documents or risk losing them forever.
