(Denville, NJ – November 18, 2019) – Einhorn, Barbarito, Frost & Botwinick, PC is pleased to announce that Co-Managing Partner Patricia M. Barbarito chaired  the 2019 Annual Benefit Gala for Eva’s Village which raised $1.114 million earlier this month, breaking all previous fundraising records for the organization. Eva’s Village, based in Paterson, NJ, provides life-changing programs and services for people who are struggling with poverty, hunger, homelessness, and addiction. Barbarito grew up in Paterson, joined Eva’s board of Trustees this fall, and has participated on various committees since 2017.

“I was raised in Paterson, and I have always felt a strong connection to Eva’s Village and its mission,” said Barbarito. “As the chair of this year’s Benefit Gala, my goal was to truly support the Gala’s theme of ‘Serving Hope: Building Community.’ The event was remarkable not only for the fundraising we accomplished, but also for the powerful stories that were told by so many courageous men and women whose recoveries were supported by Eva’s Village. I am truly moved by the hard work, generosity and dedication of the many volunteers, supporters, and staff who, every day, provide help with compassion and without judgment. I encourage people to get involved with Eva’s Village with hands-on support or donations, and to see firsthand the important work being done in Paterson.”

Eva’s Village started as a soup kitchen 37 years ago, and has grown to a community of supportive services located on a 3-block campus in Paterson, providing more than 20 integrated programs that serve thousands of men, women and children struggling with poverty, homelessness, mental illness and addiction each year.

In the past year, Eva’s Village has helped 3,084 people find paths to addiction treatment and recovery, delivered health care through 3,481 patient visits in its Primary Care Medical and Dental Clinic, served more than 525,000 meals, provided temporary or permanent shelter to 480 people, including 116 infants, toddlers and children, and assisted 352 people with resumes, interview skills, and job searches. The organization’s Culinary School placed 95% of its graduates in food service jobs. The life-changing stories of Eva’s community can be seen in this video: https://youtu.be/S89iWW1gSrw.

“The meal we shared together at our Gala reminded us how a simple meal in Eva’s Community Kitchen can be the first step on a path to recovery and stability,” said Heather Thompson, Eva’s Executive Vice President of Development and External Relations. “We are grateful for Pat’s leadership of this year’s Gala, and the generosity of our donors and funding partners who have supported our clients’ extraordinary journeys within our community.”

The Gala honored Columbia Bank for decades of generous support for Eva’s Community Kitchen and food programs; The Knight Family Charitable Foundation for supporting Eva’s Culinary School and other programs; and Paul & Karen Van Ostenbridge for their strong personal and professional support of Eva’s Village, as volunteers, donors and ambassadors.
