Christopher L. Musmanno Obtains $490,000 Settlement in Rear-End Collision Requiring Neck and Shoulder Surgeries

Christopher L. Musmanno, Chair of the Accidents/Personal Injury practice and a Certified Civil Trial Attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey, obtained a $490,000 settlement on behalf of a 39-year-old woman who sustained injuries in a rear-end motor vehicle collision.

According to the claims in the case, the vehicle ahead of the plaintiff stopped abruptly for a yellow traffic signal. The plaintiff brought her vehicle to a stop but was subsequently struck from behind by the defendants’ vehicle.

“A collision can significantly worsen a pre-existing injury and lead to the need for surgery,” said Musmanno. “Understanding how an accident changed a client’s condition is an important part of presenting the claim.”

The plaintiff suffered an aggravation of pre-existing herniated discs at C3-4 and C6-7, requiring anterior cervical discectomy and fusion with instrumentation at C6-7. She also sustained a concussion without loss of consciousness, lower back injuries, and right shoulder injuries that required surgery.

The matter settled for a total of $490,000.
