Bonnie Frost Authors Article “To Lie or Not to Lie – That is the Question” for the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Newsletter

The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) published the article “To Lie or Not to Lie – That is the Question,” authored by Einhorn Barbarito partner Bonnie Frost, in the April edition of the AAML’s newsletter.

The article discusses how the legal system is built upon all parties telling the truth. However, through the lens of the book The Cheating Culture: Why More Americans Are Doing Wrong to Get Ahead, Bonnie addresses the frequency of lying in our culture, citing examples of stories covered by mainstream media, and how it is also an issue in the family law practice.

Bonnie notes “All too often, litigants going through divorce where emotions run high and can overtake good judgment and common sense, will lie to their lawyers, to their spouse, as well as the court.”

However prevalent lying may be, Bonnie iterates that individuals going through a divorce should be treated fairly and equitably and being honest is the only way to ensure that is possible.
