Results may vary depending on your particular facts and legal circumstances.

As reported on September 4, 2024 by NJ.com and NorthJersey.com (subscriptions may be required), Dennis Shlionsky, Counsel in the firm’s Accidents/Personal Injury Practice Group, has filed a $100 million lawsuit following a tragic multi-vehicle accident that occurred on I-80 in Bergen County on May 21, 2024. Two people died and four more were seriously injured.

Ambiorix A. Torres-Fernandez, 40, a father of three from Paterson, was driving a box truck west in Hackensack when the chain-reaction crash happened, involving a tractor-trailer and other vehicles.

The truck that Torres-Fernandez was driving burst into flames, and he died a day after sustaining a traumatic brain injury, broken bones, smoke inhalation, burns and blast injuries. Torres-Fernandez’s passenger, Juan Sanchez-Rodriguez, 27, of Garfield, was also killed.

The complaint, filed in the Superior Court Of New Jersey, Passaic County, demands a jury trial on behalf of Plaintiffs, Cinthia Ventura Cruz, as Administratrix of the Estate of Ambiorix A. Torres-Fernandez, Deceased, and as Administratrix ad Prosequendum for the heirs at Law of Ambiorix A. Torres-Fernandez.

As explained by personal injury lawyer Dennis Shlionsky, “Cinthia Ventura Cruz and Ambiorix Torres-Fernandez were engaged to be married within the week that the tragic accident occurred. Together, they shared two young children, both under the age of three. Their family was looking forward to their future together, and this loss has been devastating for Cinthia, the children, and Ambiorix’s entire family.  Cinthia is filing the suit on behalf of Ambiorix’s next of kin, including his three children who depended on him financially, and we intend to fight for the maximum compensation.”

The defendants named in the lawsuit include the drivers and their employers:  Wilsonart, LLC., Wilsonart International LLC., Wilsonart Engineered Surfaces, Tobacco Place LLC., and Passaic Clifton Drive UR-Self System, LLC. As stated in the complaint, the defendants had a duty to “maintain, control and operate their motor vehicles in a safe and prudent manner” in order to “not create an unreasonable and foreseeable risk of injury to others.”

Dennis Shlionsky dedicates his practice exclusively to litigating personal injury cases of every kind and complexity, including automobile and trucking accidents, slip-and-fall and premises liability, broker malpractice, construction disputes, incidents involving public entities, and other catastrophic personal injury cases. Throughout his career, Dennis has recovered more than $30 million against insurers and corporations that refuse to fairly compensate families affected by life-altering circumstances. Results may vary depending on your particular facts and legal circumstances.
