Diaz has joined the firm as a Partner in the Family/Matrimonial Practice, bringing more than 15 years of experience in litigation, negotiation, and mediation to help clients navigate divorce and family law matters.

Nunn, Co-Managing Partner of the firm, who also co-chairs the firm’s Family/Matrimonial Practice and Appellate Practice, said, “Carmen is highly regarded throughout the state for her skilled legal advocacy in family law matters and for her approach to client service. Certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Matrimonial Attorney, Diaz is an advocate for clients in family law matters including complex divorce litigation, business valuations, prenuptial agreements, child custody, relocation applications, parenting time, psychological parentage, third-party custody/visitation, alimony, child support, and domestic violence issues. In addition, Diaz is a family law mediator and parent coordinator and is frequently appointed by the court to serve as a Guardian Ad Litem or law guardian on behalf of minor children. She also represents parents of children with special needs. She is noted for her role as a law guardian in affirming a child’s independent right to counsel in custody proceedings in the 2021 reported decision W.M v. D.G, 467 N.J. Super 216.
Currently, Diaz serves as President of the Essex County Bar Association and is an active member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, serving on the executive committee of the Family Law Section for more than a decade. She is also a trustee of the New Jersey Hispanic Bar Association. Diaz earned her J.D., cum laude, from Quinnipiac University School of Law and her B.S. from The College of New Jersey. After graduating law school, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Severiano Lisboa III in the Superior Court of New Jersey. Prior to joining Einhorn Barbarito Diaz chaired the family law department at a full-service, boutique law firm based in New Jersey.
