Yahoo! News Quotes Matheu Nunn on Bezos -Sánchez Wedding, Likelihood of Prenup

July 21, 2025

Matheu NunnEinhorn Barbarito co-chair Matheu D. Nunn, who co-chairs the firm’s Family/Matrimonial and Appellate practices, was quoted in a Yahoo! News article titled “Will Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez sign a prenup? What experts say could be in the document, if it exists.” The article, published June 25, speculates whether Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who has a reported net worth of more than $242 billion, signed a prenuptial agreement with Lauren Sánchez in advance of the couple’s lavish wedding in Venice.

Nunn tells Yahoo! News that Sánchez will almost certainly be granted assets should she and Bezos sign a prenuptial agreement.

“I’d be shocked if his prenup doesn’t give Sánchez some assets or some sort of buyout or alimony in the future,” Nunn says.

In some states, “[i]f Jeff Bezos were to have her sign a prenup that basically said, ‘You get nothing, there will never be alimony, it doesn’t matter how long we’re married, you get nothing out of any assets we own,’ you run the risk of it being deemed unconscionable,” Nunn says, meaning the agreement would be considered unfair or one-sided, and therefore unenforceable by some states’ standards.

Nunn adds that due to Bezos’s enormous wealth, it’s very likely that he already has trusts or other assets set aside for the four children he shares with his first wife, noting that people with immense wealth typically “set up different types of trusts and other financial instruments” to protect their assets.
