Thomas Coffey is a Partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice group. For more than 20 years, he has represented businesses, insurers, and professionals in commercial disputes, professional liability, and insurance defense matters in state and federal courts throughout New Jersey and New York.
Thomas regularly handles premises and products claims, malpractice suits against engineers, attorneys, and accountants, and toxic and environmental tort matters, including asbestos and benzene cases. He has experience working with insurance carriers to coordinate defense strategies, control exposure, and manage litigation costs through budgeting, case valuation, and settlement planning.
While earning his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School, Thomas received the Dean’s Scholar Fellowship and served as a civilian intern with the United States Navy, Office of the Judge Advocate General. He also received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.

- Served as second chair in a $22 million arbitration brought against a multinational engineering firm involving construction defect claims with complex engineering, construction and expert/causation issues. After a 30-day trial, a complete defense verdict was issued for client.
- Counsel for pharmaceutical manufacturers in the defense of product liability litigation involving a wide variety of products, including prescription and over-the-counter medications.
- Defense counsel for industrial equipment manufacturers in personal injury actions.
- Counsel for chemical manufacturers and industrial equipment and component part manufacturers in premises liability and product liability cases.
