Einhorn Barbarito Partner To Speak At The Health Care Association Of New Jersey’s 69th Annual Convention And Expo In Atlantic City

October 24, 2017

Einhorn Barbarito Partner Timothy J. Ford will be speaking this week at the 69th Annual Health Care Association of New Jersey (HCANJ) Convention and Expo at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City.

Ford will address Rights, Responsibilities and the Law regarding Granny Cams in Long-Term Care facilities. He will discuss why families might seek the use of a “granny cam,” and why the facilities themselves might promote or prohibit their use.

In order to best protect both the facility and the patient, Ford stresses that “Policies should be implemented, authorizing or prohibiting the use of electronic monitoring. These policies, either for or against, should be included in all resident agreements, employment handbooks and agreements with vendors/providers.  Additionally, the policy should be posted in a conspicuous place at the facility.”

New Jersey has introduced legislation, but is still among the 42 states that have yet to adopt a law specifically permitting the use of hidden cameras in long-term care facilities.

Ford is licensed to practice in New Jersey, New York State and federal courts. He concentrates his practice in several areas of law, including representation of senior care and assisted living facility owners and administrators, and provides counsel on various issues including employment, contractual relationships with residents, real estate and litigation matters. Should you have any questions regarding this or any assisted living facility-related matters, Ford can be reached at 973-627-7300 or
