Christopher L. Musmanno Obtains $250,000 Settlement for Driver Injured in Garden State Parkway Collision

Christopher L. Musmanno, Chair of the Accidents/Personal Injury practice and a Certified Civil Trial Attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey, obtained a $250,000 settlement on behalf of a 58-year-old man who required cervical disc replacement surgery following a rear-end collision on the Garden State Parkway.

According to the claims in the case, the plaintiff was fully stopped in traffic in the left northbound lane when another vehicle struck his vehicle from behind. The impact pushed his vehicle into the rear of the stopped vehicle ahead of him.

“A driver who is stopped in traffic can sustain significant injuries when struck from behind,” said Musmanno. “In this case, our client’s neck pain persisted despite conservative treatment, and he ultimately required surgery at two levels of his cervical spine.”

The plaintiff experienced immediate pain in his neck and left shoulder. EMS personnel evaluated him at the scene and transported him by ambulance to the hospital. Despite his participation in conservative treatment, his neck pain continued. He subsequently underwent cervical disc replacement at C5-6 and C6-7.

The matter settled for a total of $250,000.
