Renovating Your Home or Business? Jason Rittie Discusses New Jersey’s Land Use and Zoning Approvals in Morris County Living

While popular DIY shows make renovations look simple, the reality for home or business owners in New Jersey is that additions or renovations require several steps to obtain the necessary building and zoning permits from municipal officials. 

Jason R. Rittie, partner and chair of Einhorn Barbarito’s Land Use and Zoning Group, published an article in The Star-Ledger and Morris County Living, “Understanding New Jersey’s Process for Obtaining Land Use and Zoning Approvals,” to offer some guidance.  

Rittie notes, “Under most municipal orders, a zoning permit is generally required for any proposed change of use of a property, or for exterior improvements or additions,” which determines if the proposed use is compliant with various ordinances.
