Plaintiff, presently forty-nine (49) years of age, was a pedestrian attempting to cross the street in a marked crosswalk at an intersection when she was struck by a vehicle making a left turn. She was violently thrown to the ground and could not get up. She immediately complained of pain. As a result of this accident, Plaintiff sustained a severe ankle fracture and a right knee tear. She required an open reduction and internal fixation of her left ankle with a lateral fixation plate and multiple fixation screws. Plaintiff participated in post-operative physical therapy at the hospital due to her decreased mobility, balance, endurance, range of motion, and strength. She remained in the hospital for approximately four days. Approximately six months later, she underwent a right knee arthroscopy for the tear in her right knee. The case settled for a total amount of $ 350,000.00.
